Parent Education
More and more cases involving dissolution of marriage, motions to modify, custody of children of never-married parents, and enforcement notions in domestic relations cases are filed each year. Many of these involve minor children. Over the past several years, in case after case, judges have seen the legal situation emotionally harming the children involved.

A committee of family law attorneys practicing in this circuit has recommended two alternatives for parent education programs. The judges have adopted the committee’s recommendations. It is now mandatory that each parent in every case involving minor children participate in one of two programs. Each parent may choose between the two programs, but each parent must complete one of these two programs.
